Refractory Brick Manufacturing Process

Mar. 17, 2022

Ordinary refractory bricks are refractory materials made of refractory clay or other refractory raw materials, generally light yellow or brown in color. It is mainly used for building smelting furnaces and can withstand high temperature from 1580℃-1770℃, usually called refractory bricks. It is a refractory material with certain shape and size. According to the preparation process, it can be divided into fired bricks, no-burn bricks, electrofused bricks (electrofusion bricks), refractory insulation bricks; according to the shape and size, it can be divided into standard bricks, ordinary bricks, shaped bricks, etc. It can be used as high-temperature building materials and structural materials for construction kilns and various thermal equipment, and can withstand physical and chemical changes and mechanical effects at various high temperatures. For example, refractory clay bricks, high alumina bricks, silica bricks, magnesium bricks, etc.

There are many factors that affect the plasticity of clay. One is the generation age, mineral type, crystal type and crystallinity of clay minerals. The plasticity of kaolinite composed of high order degree kaolinite is low; the opposite is true for kaolinite composed of low order degree kaolinite. In addition, the particle size, cation exchangeability and the type of exchangeable cations of the clay all affect its plasticity. In actual production, the main methods to increase the plasticity of raw materials are.

1. Selection of materials, the removal of non-plastic impurities, such as quartz.

2. Finely grinding the selected material to increase its dispersibility.

3. Adding the right amount of plastic binder, such as pulp waste, dextrin, etc.

4. Vacuum extrusion slurry.

5. Extend the trapping time.

Raw material bonding refers to the combination of clay-like raw materials and non-plastic raw materials to form a plastic mud block with a certain dry strength capacity. Bonding clay bonding performance is usually reflected by the amount of standard quartz sand (particle composition 0.25-0.15mm accounted for 70%, 0.15-0.09mm accounted for 30%) and the bending strength after drying to form a plastic clay block . . General plasticity of clay bonding strength (there are exceptions, such as Nanning ball clay is very pure, fine particles, plasticity is good. But because of its surface energy, dry, absorb more water, dehydration shrinkage. , resulting in more cracking, poor dry strength, plasticity index up to 36-47, while the flexural strength is only 0.48Mpa.

Refractory brick masonry construction procedures.

Dynamic furnace construction process

1, dynamic kiln masonry can only be carried out after the kiln single-load no-load acceptance.

2, the basic procedure of masonry

The starting point should be selected from the hot end to the cold end or from the low end to the high end in order to clean up the line and select bricks. According to the hot and cold section, choose different materials of refractory bricks. If the qualified bricks have anchor nails or support bricks, if there is insulation (such as calcium silicate board, etc.), the insulation must be installed and used first. Mortar should match the refractory bricks. The expansion gap of the masonry should be matched with pre-filling and filling.

Static furnace construction process

Starting point selection (generally choose bottom-up, from hot end to cold end order) layout and marking (generally take the lower end of the air outlet or inspection port, etc. as the benchmark) brick selection (choose different materials and different shapes) choose refractory bricks according to different parts of the equipment) weld anchor nails and support plates as required by the drawings. If there is insulation, the insulation should be installed first and mortar should be prepared for use. The material of mortar should be matched with refractory bricks. Prepare and fill the expansion joints of arch-shaped tires.
