Silica refractory brick is a high quality refractory product with an SiO2 content of 93% or more. Silica refractory brick has the characteristics of good acid corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity, high refractoriness of load above 1620℃. Silica refractory bricks are made of quartzite as raw material, adding a small amount of mineralizing agent by high temperature firing. The mineral composition of silica bricks includes scaled quartz, calcite and glass formed at high temperatures. Better sintered siliceous refractory bricks have 50 to 80% quartz sand, 10 to 30% square quartz and 5 to 15% quartz and glass phase content.

►Acid and alkali resistance
Silica refractory bricks are acid refractory materials, which are very resistant to acid slag erosion and oxides of CaO, FeO and Fe2O3. However, siliceous refractory bricks are easily destroyed by Al2O3 oxides under the strong erosion of alkali slag.
►Expansion
The thermal conductivity and volume of siliceous refractory bricks increase with the increase of the use temperature. There is no linearity after shrinkage during baking. The maximum expansion during baking is about 100~300℃, and the expansion is about 70~75% of the total expansion before 300℃. As SiO2 undergoes four crystallographic transition points during baking, 117, 163, 180~270 and 573℃. Among them, 180~270℃ is mainly influenced by square quartz.
►Load
Refractoriness The silica refractory bricks have high load refractoriness. The melting point is about 1640~4680℃, which is close to the melting point of scale quartz and square quartz.
►Heat stability
The low thermal shock resistance of siliceous refractory bricks with a refractoriness of about 1690~1730℃ limits its application. True density is the most important factor in the thermal conductivity of siliceous refractory bricks. The lower the true density, the more complete the lime transformation and the smaller the post-expansion during baking.
When the working temperature is lower than 600~700℃, the volume of silica bricks will have a large change. They will be poorly resistant to vibration and will not be very thermally stable. If the coke oven works at this temperature for a long time, its lining will be easily damaged.
Silica refractory bricks are mainly used to line the partition walls of the coking and combustion chambers of coke ovens, the roofs and walls of glass kilns, and the calcination kilns for silicate products.
The use of high-density silica refractory bricks in large coke ovens can thin the walls of coking and combustion chambers and increase production capacity.
